4.1The functions of the MAC Charter Council as set out in the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice are to:

 

4.1.1provide guidance on sector-specific matters affecting BEE in entities within the sector;

 

4.1.2monitor, measure and evaluate entities within the sector against the MAC Transformation Charter;

 

4.1.3compile reports on the status of B-BBEE within the sector;

 

4.1.4share information with the national monitoring mechanism and approved accreditation agencies, which can have specific relevance to BEE in the sector in terms of targets set out in the MAC Transformation Charter;

 

4.1.5report to the Minister of Trade and Industry and to the Advisory Council on progress made by the sector;

 

4.1.6implement programmes intended to leverage verification capacity within the industry.

 

4.2The MAC Charter Council is required to apply good corporate governance principles in its daily functions.

 

4.3The MAC Charter Council will provide oversight to the MAC SA.
