(1) | An applicant for the issuing of a type rating by name in the category gyroplane shall have demonstrated to the holder of a gyroplane flight instructor rating, the ability to perform as PIC of the gyroplane the procedures and manoeuvres as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 62, with a degree of competency appropriate to the privileges granted to the holder of a national pilot licence. |
(2) | The applicant shall undergo the skills test referred to in subregulation (1) within 90 days of passing the theoretical knowledge examination referred to in regulation 62.06.4 and within the 60 days immediately preceding the date of application. |
(3) | The skills test referred to in subregulation (1) shall consist of the following: |
(a) | A general skills test of not less than 60 minutes; |
(b) | A navigation skills test of not less than 90 minutes flown at normal cruising speed and which includes a full stop landing at a point other than the point of departure. |
