87. Members of Advisory Council

(1)The Minister must appoint as members of the Advisory Council not less than five but not more than ten persons appropriately qualified to represent the interests of co-operatives in the Republic.

(2)When appointing members in terms of subsection (1), the Minister must have regard to the need for the Advisory Council—
(a)to have appropriate expertise; and
(b)to represent different relevant constituencies including trade unions, business, co-operative support organisations, women, youth, the disabled and academics.

(3)The Minister must designate one of the members of the Advisory Council  as chairperson.
