Construction Industry Development Board

The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) is a Schedule 3A public entity established in terms of the Construction Industry Development Board Act, 2000 (Act No. 38 of 2000) (the Act) to provide leadership to stakeholders to stimulate sustainable growth, reform and improvement of the construction sector for effective delivery and the industry’s enhanced role in the country’s economy.

Section 5(4) of the Act mandates the ClDB to establish and promote uniform and ethical standards "that regulate the actions, practices and procedures of parties engaged in construction contracts" and stipulates that the ClDB "must publish a code of conduct "for all construction-related procurement and all participants involved in the procurement process."

After publishing a draft code of conduct by General Notice No. 2215 in Gazette No. 25351 of 22 August 2003, for comment and evaluating comments received, the ClDB has, in terms of section 5(4) of the Act, published the Code of Conduct contained in the Schedule hereto.
