Correctional Services Act, 1998 (Act No. 111 of 1998)Chapter XV : Offences119. Supplying certain articles to inmates |
1) | No person may without lawful authority- |
a) | supply, convey or cause to be supplied or conveyed to any inmate, or hide or place for his or her use any document, intoxicating liquor, dagga, drug, opiate, money, or any other article; |
b) | bring or introduce into any correctional centre, or place where inmates may be in custody, any document, intoxicating liquor, dagga, drug, opiate, money, or any other article to be sold or used in the correctional centre; or |
c) | bring out of any correctional centre, or convey from any inmate any document or other article. |
2) | No correctional or custody official or other person in the service of the Department or in the employ of a Contractor may without lawful authority allow or participate in the commission of any act prohibited in subsection (1). |
3) | Any person who contravenes any provision of this section commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or, in default of payment, to incarceration for a period not exceeding four years, or to such incarceration without the option of a fine or both. |
