122. Unauthorised entry at correctional centres and communication or interference with inmates

Any person who without lawful authority –

a)enters any correctional centre or fails to depart upon being ordered so to do by any correctional or custody official or member of the South African Police Service;
b)communicates with any inmate;
c)in any manner interferes with any inmate or group of inmates; or
d)has in his or her possession or publishes a sketch, diagram or photograph of a correctional centre or part of a correctional centre or any security system relating to the detention of inmates in order to undermine the security or secure detention of the inmates,

is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or, in default of payment, to incarceration for a period not exceeding four years or to such incarceration without the option of a fine or both.
