Disciplinary Code and Procedure for Employees of the Department of Correctional Services (Levels 2 To 12)

 

The purpose of this Code and Procedures is:

1.1To promote constructive labour relations in the DCS;

 

1.2To promote mutual respect among employees and between employees and employer;

 

1.3To ensure that managers and employees share a common understanding of misconduct and discipline;

 

1.4To promote acceptable conduct;

 

1.5To provide employees and the employer with a quick and easy reference for the application of discipline;

 

1.6To avert and correct unacceptable conduct; and

 

1.7To prevent arbitrary or discriminatory actions by managers toward employees.

 

1.8To act in a preventative, progressive manner with the aim to correct unacceptable behavior.

 

1.9It must be noted that this document is a collective agreement and that no party will deviate from all the provisions from this code.
