Debt Collectors Act, 1998 (Act No. 114 of 1998)

In these regulations any word or expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the Act shall bear the meaning so assigned to it and, unless the context otherwise indicates—

"auditor"

means a registered auditor as contemplated in the Auditing Profession Act, 2005 (Act No. 26 of 2005);

"day"

means any day of the week other than a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday;

"the Act"

means the Debt Collectors Act, 1998 (Act No. 114 of 1998); and

"sheriff"

means a person appointed in terms of section 2 of the Sheriffs Act, 1986 (Act No. 90 of 1986), and also a person appointed in terms of sections 5 and 6 of that Act as an acting sheriff and a deputy sheriff respectively.
