98. Appointment and proceedings of exemption boards

(1)Whenever the circumstances so require, the Minister of Manpower shall, in consultation with the Minister, appoint one or more exemption boards to consider and, subject to a directive in terms of sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section seventy-four bis, decide upon applications for exemption under section ninety-seven.

(2)Any such board shall be constituted in the same manner as a board appointed in terms of section sixty-eight.

(3)The provisions of subsection (3) of section sixty-eight and subsections (2) and (3) of section sixty-nine shall mutatis mutandis apply with reference to an exemption board appointed under this section, and in the application of the said subsection (2) the reference therein to the registering officer shall be construed as a reference to a prescribed officer.
