I, Dr Elias Sithole, in my capacity as Head of the National Disaster Management Centre, following the termination of the national state of disaster by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, give notice that the National Disaster Management Centre hereby revokes the classification of the severe electricity supply constraint as a national disaster.

 

I hereby, in terms of Section 20(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002), call upon organs of state, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, communities and individuals to continue working together, through formal and informal initiatives to use electricity sparingly and build resilience to reduce the ongoing impact of the electricity supply constraint.
