(1) | A person may be nominated to contest an election as an independent candidate— |
(a) | in one or more regions for the National Assembly but may be elected to only one seat in the National Assembly; and |
(b) | or a provincial legislature in a province in which that person is registered as a voter, provided that the independent candidate may only be eligible to be a member of either the National Assembly or a provincial legislature. |
(2) | Provided the other provisions of this Act are complied with, a person nominated in terms of subsection (1) stands as an independent candidate in that election. |
