Part 3A : Independent candidates

31A. Nomination of independent candidate

(1) A person may be nominated to contest an election as an independent candidate
(a) in one or more regions for the National Assembly but may be elected to only one seat in the National Assembly; and
(b) or a provincial legislature in a province in which that person is registered as a voter, provided that the independent candidate may only be eligible to be a member of either the National Assembly or a provincial legislature.

 

(2) Provided the other provisions of this Act are complied with, a person nominated in terms of subsection (1) stands as an independent candidate in that election.
