99. Electoral Code of Conduct and other Codes

(1)The Electoral Code of Conduct must be subscribed to—
(a)by every registered party before that party is allowed to contest an election;
(b)by every candidate before that candidate may be placed on a list of candidates in terms of section 31, and
(c)by every independent candidate before that independent candidate may be placed on a list of independent candidates in terms of section 31F.

(1A)A Code is binding from the date on which the notice calling an election is published to the date on which the result of the election is declared.

(2)In order to promote free, fair and orderly elections, the Commission may compile and issue any other Code.

 

(3)The Commission may change or replace a Code issued in terms of subsection (2).

 

(4)A Code issued in terms of subsection (2), or a change to or replacement of such a Code, must be published in the Government Gazette.
