1. Definitions

In these Regulations, any word or expression has the meaning assigned to it in the Electronic Communications Act, 2005 (Act No. 36 of 2005), unless otherwise specified—

 

"Act"

means the Electronic Communications Act, 2005 (Act No. 36 of 2005);

 

"Authority"

means the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa established by section 3 of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa Act, 2000 (Act No. 13 of 2000);

 

"Authority's Financial year end"

means the period ending 31 March;

 

"Broadcasting Service (BS)"

means a broadcasting service as defined in the Electronic Communications Act, 2005;

 

"Electronic Communications Network Services (ECNS)"

means an electronic communications network services as defined in the Electronic Communications Act, 2005;

 

"Electronic Communications Services (ECS)"

means an electronic communications services as defined in the Electronic Communications Act, 2005;

 

"Licensee"

means the person named in the Licence;

 

"Reserved Postal Services (RPS)"

means a service as defined in the Postal Services Act 124 of 1998 as amended; and

 

"Unreserved Postal Services (UPS)"

means a service as defined in the Postal Services Act 124 of 1998 as amended.
