1. Definitions

In these regulations any word or expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the Act, shall have that meaning and, unless the context otherwise indicates—

 

"day"

means a calendar day;

 

"official language"

means an official language listed in section 6(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Act No. 108 of 1996);

 

"regulations"

includes the forms in the Annexure;

 

"sheriff"

means a person appointed in terms of section 2 of the Sheriffs Act, 1986 (Act No. 90 of 1986), and a person appointed in terms of section 5 and section 6 of that Act as an acting sheriff and a deputy sheriff, respectively;

 

"the Act"

means the Extension of Security of Tenure Act, 1997 (Act No. 62 of 1997); and

 

"week day"

means any day except Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday.
