28. Benefits not property for purposes of estate duty

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any law contained, any benefit or any right to a benefit, due and payable in terms of this Law to the beneficiary of a member, on or as a result of or after the death of that member shall for the purposes of the Estate Duty Act, 1955 (Act No. 45 of 1955), be deemed not to be property as defined in section 3(2) of that Act.
