52. Dispensing of medicines

(1)A medical practitioner, dentist or other person registered in terms of this Act
(a)may compound or dispense medicines only on the authority and subject to the conditions of a licence granted by the Director-General in terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Act, 1965 (Act No. 101 of 1965);
(b)shall not be entitled to keep an open shop or pharmacy.

 

(2)For the purposes of this section 'open shop' means a situation where the supply of medicines and scheduled substances to the public is not done by prescription by a person authorised to prescribe medicine.
