2. Constitution of the board

(1) The board consists of nine members appointed by the Minister and who permanently reside in South Africa:
(a)seven environmental health practitioners, of whom at least five must be from designated groups appointed on the basis of nominations by persons whose names appear in the register of environmental health practitioners;
(b)one person representing the department of health; and
(c)one community representative.

 

(2)Designated groups must be protected and advanced in the following order of the levels of disadvantage of the past, which must be taken into consideration in the appointment process:
(a)women
(b)men of African, Asian or Coloured descent; and
(c) disabled persons, irrespective of descent.
