6.1. Calculation of wages

6.1.1The hourly wage of an employee shall be the weekly wage divided by the number of ordinary hours of work for such employee in any week;

 

6.1.2The daily wage of an employee shall be the hourly wage multiplied by—
(a)Nine, in the case of an employee who works a five-day week;
(b)Seven and half, in the case of any other employee;

 

6.1.3The weekly wage of an employee shall be the hourly wage multiplied by the number of ordinary hours of work for such employee in any week;

 

6.1.4The monthly wage of an employee shall be four and one third times the weekly wage.

 

6.1.5Remuneration shall be paid;
(a)in South African currency;
(b)daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly;
(c)in cash, by cheque or by direct deposit into an account designated by the employee.

 

6.1.6Any  remuneration paid in cash or  by cheque must be given to  each employee—
(a)at the workplace or at a place agreed to by the employee;
(b)during  the employees working hours or within 15 minutes of the commencement or the conclusion of those hours; and
(c)in a sealed envelope which then becomes property of the employee.

 

6.1.7An employer must pay remuneration not later than seven days after—
(a)the completion of the period for which the remuneration is payable;or
(b)the termination of the contract of employment.

 

6.1.8Sub-clause 6.1.7(b) above does not apply to any amount due to an employee by the CIRBF.
