1. | “Sick leave cycle” means the period of 36 months" employment with the same employer and/or the same establishment immediately following:— |
(a) | an employee"s commencement of employment; |
(b) | the completion of that employee"s previous sick leave cycle. |
2. | An employee who falls sick may be absent from work for up to 36 working days during a period of 36 consecutive months. However, during the first six months of employment an employee is entitled to one day"s sick leave for every 26 days worked. |
3. | An employer must pay an employer must pay an employee the employee"s basic daily wage for each day that the employee is entitled to paid sick leave. |
4. | An employer is not required to pay sick leave:— |
(a) | to an employee if they are both contributing to the Hairdressing Trade Sick Pay Fund referred to in clause 36; |
(b) | to an employee who has been absent from work for longer than two days and has not produced a medical certificate stating the nature and duration of the sickness; |
(c) | to a casual employee. |
