48. Repeal of laws of former entities, and transitional provisions

(1)Subject to this section and section 50
(a)the laws mentioned in Schedule II, in force in those parts of the Republic which formerly constituted the national territories of the entities known as Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Venda, Ciskei, Gazankulu, KaNgwane, Kwa-Ndebele, KwaZulu, Lebowa and QwaQwa, are hereby repealed; and
(b)any other law in force in the mentioned parts of the Republic is hereby repealed to the extent that such law is inconsistent with the Land Survey Act, 1927 (Act No. 9 of 1927), or deals with any matter dealt with by that Act.

 

(2)The Land Survey Act, 1927 (Act No. 9 of 1927), shall apply throughout the Republic.

 

(3)Any office of a Surveyor-General which was established under a law referred to in subsection (1) shall be deemed to be an office of a Surveyor-General established under section 3 of the Land Survey Act, 1927.

 

(4)Subsections (1), (2) and (3) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 6 July 1995.
