Rule 2A : Microinsurance and Funeral Policy Product Standards

2A.1 Definitions

In this rule—

 

"accident"

has the meaning assigned to it in section 1 of the Insurance Act;

 

"funeral policy"

means a life insurance policy underwritten under the funeral class of life insurance business as set out in Table 1 of Schedule 2 of the Insurance Act, and includes any rider benefit that would constitute a policy written under the funeral class of insurance business referred to in Table 1 of Schedule 2 to the Insurance Act, had it not been a rider benefit;

 

"life insurance policy"

has the meaning assigned to it in section 1 of the Insurance Act;

 

"microinsurance policy"

means a life insurance policy underwritten by a microinsurer;

 

"microinsurer"

has the meaning assigned to it in section 1 of the Insurance Act;

 

"rider benefit"

has the meaning assigned to it in section 1 of the Insurance Act;

 

"underwritten on a group basis"

has the meaning assigned to it in Schedule 2 of the Insurance Act.
