(1) | When a seafarer is discharged from a coasting ship or a fishing, sealing or shore-based whaling boat, registered in the Republic, the owner or master shall pay to that seafarer, within two days of his discharge, the balance of wages due to him, and if an owner or master fails without reasonable cause to make such payment he shall pay to the seafarer a sum equal to two days' pay for each of the days during which payment is delayed beyond the said period of two days, but the additional sum so payable shall not exceed ten days' double pay. |
