170. Recovery of expenses from owner

If any expenses payable by the master or owner of a South African ship in respect of illness, hurt or injury of the master or of a seafarer of that ship are paid by any other person, those expenses shall be repaid to that person by the said master or owner, and if not so repaid shall constitute a debt recoverable in any competent court from the master or owner by whom they are payable.
