17. Tonnage once ascertained to be the tonnage of ship

Whenever the tonnage of a ship has been ascertained and recorded in accordance  with this Act, that tonnage shall be the tonnage of the ship unless any alteration is made in the form or capacity of the ship, or unless it is discovered that the tonnage of the ship has been erroneously computed, in either of which cases the ship shall be resurveyed, and her tonnage redetermined in accordance with this Act.
