(1) | No person who is connected, directly or indirectly, with the ship which forms the subject of investigation by a court of maritime enquiry or a maritime court, or which forms the subject of an appeal to a court of survey, or on board which the casualty or occurrence or conduct to be investigated by a court of marine enquiry or a maritime court took place, or with the owners of that ship, shall be appointed as a member of that court or under section two hundred and eighty-two. |
(2) | Nothing in subsection (1) contained shall prohibit the appointment as a member of a court of marine enquiry or a maritime court or a court of survey or under section two hundred and eighty-two of any person who is in the employ of or entitled to receive a pension from the Government of the Republic, merely on the ground that the said Government is the owner of the ship referred to in subsection (1). |
