Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other law, a magistrate's court shall have jurisdiction to impose any punishment prescribed by this Act: Provided that this section shall not apply in respect of any compensation referred to in subsection (2) of section two hundred and thirty-two or to any forfeiture under section three hundred and thirty-four.
