345. Payment of allowances to persons appointed to make preliminary enquiries into shipping casualties, to members of courts of marine enquiry, maritime courts or courts of survey and assessors

Any person appointed under section two hundred and sixty-four, any member of a court of marine enquiry, maritime court or court of survey, any expert to whom an appeal has been referred under section two hundred and eighty two or any assessors summoned under subsection (2) of section two hundred and ninety two shall, if he or she is in the employ of the Government of the Republic, be paid such allowances towards subsistence and transport as may be prescribed (otherwise than under this Act) for Government employees of his or her class, and if he or she is not in the employ of the Government of the Republic, or if no such allowances have been prescribed for Government employees of his or her class, he or she shall be paid such allowances towards subsistence and transport as may be prescribed by the regulations made under this Act.
