| (a) | a ship security plan for a South African regulated ship is in force; and |
| (b) | the Authority is no longer satisfied that the plan adequately addresses the relevant requirements under Division 3, |
the Authority may, by written notice given to the ship operator for the ship, direct the ship operator to vary the plan.
| (2) | However, the Authority must not give a direction under subregulation (1) unless the Authority is satisfied that the plan, as varied, would adequately address the relevant requirements under Division 3. |
| (3) | In the notice, the Authority must— |
| (a) | set out the variation; and |
| (b) | specify the period within which the ship operator must give the Authority the plan as varied. |
| (4) | If the ship operator does not give the Authority the plan— |
| (a) | varied is accordance with the direction; and |
| (b) | within the specified period, or within any further period allcived by the Authority, |
the Authority must, by written notice given to the ship operator, cancel the approval of the plan.
