48. Proficiency in survival craft

A candidate for the certificate of qualification as proficient in survival craft shall be at least 18 years of age and shall have—

(a)completed—
(i)at least 12 months' sea service on ships of 100GT or more on unlimited or near-coastal voyages; or
(ii)at least six months' sea service contemplated in subparagraph (i) and have documentary proof of having successfully completed an approved shore-based training course; and
(b)been assessed at levels 1 or 2.
