42. Offences and penalties

(1)If a radiotelephone operator or a person designated under regulation 18(3) or (4) contravenes any provision of these regulations imposing a duty on him or her, he or she commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months; and if any person, being the owner or master of the ship, permits such a contravention, he or she also commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year.

 

(2)If these regulations are contravened in any other respect in relation to any ship, the owner and master of the ship each commit an offence and are liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year.
