(1) | If a radiotelephone operator or a person designated under regulation 18(3) or (4) contravenes any provision of these regulations imposing a duty on him or her, he or she commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months; and if any person, being the owner or master of the ship, permits such a contravention, he or she also commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year. |
(2) | If these regulations are contravened in any other respect in relation to any ship, the owner and master of the ship each commit an offence and are liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year. |
