These regulations—
(a) | for the purposes of section 232(1)(a) read with section 356(1)(xxviii) of the Act— |
(i) | declare the signals that are to be regarded as signals of distress; and |
(ii) | prescribe the circumstances in and purposes for which those signals may be used; |
(b) | pursuant to section 356(2)(b) of the Act, give effect to the provisions of the International Collision Regulations Convention; and |
(c) | pursuant to section 356(1)(xxxviii) of the Act, require observance of the provisions of these regulations also by and in relation to certain aircraft and other novel craft. |
