4. Classification of ships

For the purpose of these regulations ships shall be divided into the following classes:

 

(1) Class 1: Foreign-going ships.

 

(2) Class 2: Ships other than a Class 1 ship
(a) of 200 Ions or more; or
(b) of less than 200 tons which, during their normal voyages or operations, may be at such a distance from a South African port where medical assistance may be obtained that the travelling time to that port would exceed 15 hours at such ship's normal service speed.

 

(3)Class 3: Ships, other than Class 1 or Class 2 ships, of 25 tons or more.
