61. Attestation of powers of attorney and other documents in the Republic

(1)
(a) Any power of attorney executed within the Republic which purports to give authority to pass, cede, amend or cancel a deed or document, or to perform any act in the Mineral and Petroleum Titles Registration Office, shall be attested either by two witnesses who are competent to give evidence in any court of law in the Republic or by a magistrate, justice of the peace, commissioner of oaths or notary public under his or her designation.
(b) No person shall be competent to attest any power of attorney under which he or she is appointed as an agent or derives any benefit.

(2) The provisions of subsection (1) shall apply to any other original document intended for registration or filing or production in the Mineral and Petroleum Titles Registration Office.
