I, Boma Edna Edith Molewa, Minister of Environmental Affairs, hereby under section 24H(3)(a) and (6) of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) appoint the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa as the single registration authority for environmental assessment practitioners, as set out in the Schedule hereto.

Schedule

 

1. The Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa is appointed in terms of section 24H(3)(a) and (6) of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) as the single registration authority for environmental assessment practitioners, which appointment is valid for a period of five years, from the date of publication of this Notice in the Gazette.

 

2. In terms of Regulation 22(1) of the Section 24H Registration Authority Regulations, 2016, said Regulations come into effect on the date of the appointment of the first registration authority.

 

3. The Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa has determined and recommended fees for application for registration and renewal of registration, for the lodging of appeals and annual fees for registered candidate environmental assessment practitioners and registered environmental assessment practitioners. These fees are currently under consideration and will be published in the Gazette, once approved.

 

4. In terms of Regulation 22(2) of the Section 24H Registration Authority Regulations, 2016, the requirement to register as an environmental assessment practitioner takes effect 24 months from the date of the appointment of the first registration authority.
