I, Barbara Dallas Creecy, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, hereby, under section 8(1) and 9 of the National Forests Act, 1998 (Act No. 84 of 1998), declare certain state forest properties in Mpumalanga Province as forest nature reserves, as set out in the Schedule hereto.

The effect of this declaration is that in terms of section 10(1) of the National Forests Act, 1998 (Act No. 84 of 1998), no person may cut, disturb, damage or destroy any forest produced in, or remove or receive any forest produce from the protected area, except under rules made for the proper management of the area, or in terms of a servitude right, licence or exemption granted by the Minister.

A person who contravenes the abovementioned provision, commits a second category offence in terms of section 62(2)(a) of the National Forests Act, 1998 (Act No. 84 of 1998), and is liable, on a first conviction for that offence, to a fine or imprisonment for a period of up to two years, or to both a fine and such imprisonment.
