19. Powers of chairman of risk committee to enter upon premises, conduct investigations or obtain information

(1)

The chairman of the risk committee or any person authorized thereto in writing by him or her may enter upon any place at a mine or works where any persons work or have worked or where it is intended to cause any persons to work, and carry out such observations, tests, experiments, measurements, investigations or surveys as he or she may consider necessary for the performance of the functions of the risk committee, and view any instrument, appliance or machinery used in connection with the operations at that mine or works or with which any observations, tests, experiments, measurements, investigations or surveys are carried out.

The chairman of the risk committee shall have the same powers as those conferred upon the director by sections 5 (3) and 6, and the provisions of those sections relating to the exercise of such powers by the director shall mutatis mutandis apply with reference to the exercise of such powers by the said chairman.
