20. Offences and penalties

(1) Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with the provisions of regulation 3(3), 3(4), 4(1), 4(6), 4(7), 4(8), 5, 6, 7, 8, 9(1), 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 will be guilty of an offence and liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding R8000 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months, or both, and, in the case of a continuous offence or failure to comply, to an additional fine of R800 for each day on which the offence continues or to additional imprisonment of one day for each day the offence continues: Provided that the period of such imprisonment will in no case exceed 90 days.

 

(2) The Minister may, from time to time and by publication in the Gazette, amend the amounts of the maximum fines in subregulation (1).
