(1) | In this Act, unless the context indicates otherwise— |
“Minister”
means the Minister for Provincial Affairs and Constitutional Development;
means the organisation recognised in terms of section 2(1)(a);
means an organisation recognised in terms of section 2(1)(b);
means the member of the Executive Council responsible for local government in the province in question.
(2) | For the purposes of this Act and for as long as item 26(1)(a) of Schedule 6 to the Constitution applies, the following are the categories of municipalities: |
(a) | Municipalities established for a metropolitan area as defined in section 1 of the Local Government Transition Act, 1993 (Act No. 209 of 1993); |
(b) | municipalities as contemplated in section 9A of the Local Government Transition Act, 1993 (Act No. 209 of 1993); |
(c) | any local council as defined in section 10B of the Local Government Transition Act, 1993 (Act No. 209 of 1993). |
