3. Performance of functions by sheriff

(1)Subject to the provisions of this section, a sheriff shall perform within the area of jurisdiction of the lower or superior court for which he has been appointed the functions assigned by or under any law to a sheriff of that court.

 

(2)
(a)The Minister may describe one or more areas within the area of jurisdiction of a lower or superior court and allocate any such area to a sheriff of that court or a sheriff of another court, after consultation with the Board and subject to written confirmation by the Board that it is prepared to issue a fidelity fund certificate to that sheriff.
(b) The Minister may, after consultation with the Board, and subject to written confirmation by the Board that it is prepared to issue a fidelity fund certificate, appoint more than one sheriff for that particular area to perform the duties and functions assigned to a sheriff.

(3)A sheriff to whom an area has been allocated under subsection (2), shall perform his functions within that area.

 

(4) The Minister may at any time alter the description of an area referred to in subsection (2).
