(1) | The following charges are payable for an employment of a seafarer holding a foreign certificate of competency under section 83 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951 (Act No. 57 of 1951) read with the relevant Regulations of the Merchant Shipping (Safe Manning, Training and Certification) Regulations, 2013: |
(a) | where there is a need for the authority to authorise a foreign seafarer to work on a South African ship before being issued the certificates, a charge of R3 050 shall be paid per month or part thereof. Provided, a minimum charge of R9 140 is payable. |
(b) | A charge of R5 580-00 is payable where the application is for an endorsement of foreign certificate of competency under the Regulations. This charge covers; |
(i) | the relevant assessment that may be required under the Regulations; |
(ii) | issue of Certificate of Equivalent Competency and the Authority to Operate Radio Apparatus (Deck Officers only) |
(2) | A charge of R2 905 per month, or part thereof calculated with reference to the desired duration of the permission, is payable for permission under section 85 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951. |
