(1) | The DNA buccal collection kit must be used when a buccal sample is collected for investigative purposes from a person contemplated in section 36E(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act, and his or her fingerprints must be taken on the SAPS 192 form. |
(2) | The original collection form must be filed in the case docket and the copy of the form, together with the buccal sample, must be placed in the evidence sealing bag before it is sealed. |
(3) | The contact particulars of the person from whom the buccal sample has been taken, including a cellular phone number, where available, must be recorded in the investigation diary (SAPS 5) in the case docket. The authorised person must clearly indicate on the collection form that the sample was taken for investigative purposes. |
