Regulations under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 1993 (Act No. 13 of 1993), as amended

3. Allowances payable under section 6(6)

(1)The allowance payable under section 6(6) shall be—
(a)The actual costs of public transport or paid in terms of Transport Handbook on Tariffs for the use of Motor Transport as amended; and (Private) [Amendment No 7 of 2007 of the Annexure to Transport Circular No 1 of 1997].
(b)In respect of pecuniary loss—
(i)R120, 00 per day or the amount of the loss, which ever is the lesser or
(ii)In the case of a professional witness, including a medical practitioner or chiropractor, R620, 00 per hour or part of an hour with a maximum of R1 860,00 per day or the amount of the loss, which ever is the lesser.
(c)In respect of subsistence expenses incurred-

R120,00 for every 24 hours and R5,00 for every full hour thereafter or actual expenses, provided such expenses is in the opinion of the Commissioner reasonable.

 

(2)The provisions of regulation 4(4) and 5 shall apply subject to the necessary alterations to fit the changed circumstances to a witness.
