(1) | In respect of remuneration— |
R550.00 per hour or part of an hour with a maximum of R1 650 per day for attending meetings, hearings or for the investigations of any matter.
(2) | In respect of subsistence— |
An allowance at R120,00 for every 24 hours and R5,00 for every full hour thereafter or actual expenses, provide such expense is in the opinion of the Commissioner reasonable.
(3) | In respect of transport— |
The actual costs of public transport or paid in terms of Transport Handbook on Tariffs for the use of Motor Transport as amended; and (Private) [Amendment No 7 of 2007 of the Annexure to Transport Circular No 1 of 1997]
(4) | An assessor shall travel by the most convenient public conveyance, but if the Commissioner is satisfied that the journey cannot be so undertaken, she/he may authorize the use of private transport against payment of a transport allowance as prescribed by regulation 4(3). |
(5) | Where an assessor travels by a route which results in the journey lasting longer or which involves greater travelling and subsistence allowance than was in the opinion of the Commissioner necessary, she/he may reduce a claim for such allowance to such amount that she/he regards as reasonable. |
(6) | In respect of entitlement to claim— |
(6.1) | No claim shall be processed unless the following: |
(a) | Claim form is duly signed and completed by the panel member. |
(b) | Original parking, toll fees and meals receipts are attached. |
(6.2) | Cancellations or postponement |
(6.2.1) | The following shall apply to every postponement or cancellation of a hearing: |
(a) | A panelist shall have the discretion to charge up to 75% of the full fee for a hearing that has been confirmed in writing by the Compensation Fund and where the hearing is cancelled/postponed by the Compensation Fund within one working day before the day set for the hearing. |
(b) | A panelist shall have the discretion to charge up to 50% of the full fee for a hearing that has been confirmed in writing by the Compensation Fund and where the hearing is cancelled / postponed within four days before they set for the hearing. |
(c) | A panelist shall not be entitled to claim where the hearing is cancelled within five working days. |
