149. Property of deceased seafarer left abroad but not on board ship

If a seafarer of a South African ship, the voyage of which is to terminate in the Republic, dies at any place out of the Republic, leaving any money or other property not on board the ship to which he belonged at the time of his death, the proper officer at or near that place shall claim and take charge of such money and other property, and such money and other property shall be deemed to be the property of a deceased seafarer within the meaning of this Chapter.
