4. Establishment and objective of South African Search and Rescue Organisation

(1)The South African Search and Rescue Organisation is hereby established.

 

(2)
(a)The objective of SASAR is to ensure a co-ordinated  and effective maritime and aeronautical  search and rescue service within the South African search and rescue regions.
(b)Any person appointed in terms of this Act or involved with the carrying out of the provisions thereof must perform his or her functions pursuant to the objective of SASAR.
